This issue brings together some of the latest developments in literacy, numeracy and digital learning across Australia with initiatives from Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales.
We begin in Tasmania with the release of the State’s second 10-year adult literacy strategy. We look at exciting new initiatives for the Victorian and New South Wales ACE sectors to tackle the serious shortages of specialist literacy and numeracy teachers. Thanks to 26Ten, the Victorian Department of Jobs, Skill, Industry and Regions and the NSW Department of Education for the information.
Digital literacy is also a key focus this month, featuring:
- Practical strategies from two NSW teachers to help close digital gaps in the classroom
- An opportunity to contribute to the national definition of digital literacy
- An upcoming ALA seminar on teaching cyber security awareness and digital literacy to adult learners
- $1,000 grants for Get Online Week to help reduce the digital divide
As well in this edition:
- A valuable updated numeracy resource
- How to update your provider details in our database
- ACAL 50th anniversary celebration
- Upcoming conferences and events.
