The need for a funded adult literacy and numeracy policy, greater diversity of provision and more teachers were common themes at the Inquiry conducted by the House Standing Committee on Employment, Education and Training,
Submissions were received from over 100 organisations including Reading Writing Hotline and ACAL as well as representatives from community led programs, First Nations organisations and a wide variety of adult literacy providers. Public hearings have been held all over the country and included many articulate and passionate presenters. Transcripts can be viewed here.
