19 Aug Marian’s story – Embarrassed by bad spelling
Marian was working as a manager in a Brisbane company but she lacked confidence in her writing because she felt her spelling was ‘atrocious’. She told the Hotline teachers that people at work were laughing at her because of her difficulties with spelling. She did try calling a provider who was offering classes in her area but found the enrolment form too intimidating and was worried about making a mistake.
Soon after, Marian lost her job due to the COVID lockdown, and thought it would be a good idea to improve her spelling while she has time. As face to face classes were not open, the Hotline recommended some learning resources on spelling to get started. We followed up with Marian and she is happily following the links sent and is looking forward to enrolling in a class soon.
