Nationwide campaigns, such as the Hotline’s jingle advertisement play an important role in normalising literacy and numeracy gaps in the wider community. Recently two callers sent us moving messages reinforcing this message about raising community awareness of literacy issues.
The first was a man from regional New South Wales. He left a voicemail message saying how much the Hotline ad had inspired him and many others. He felt the ad had really provided an inspiration to those who can’t read and write. He ended the call by saying that he just wanted to “give you a bit of thanks for that”.
The second call was from a young woman who started off saying that she was sure we received a lot of phone calls because our number was well known. However, she just wanted to say how much she appreciated what the Hotline does and how much she loved our ad. She said that many people don’t understand how important it is to have literacy and how important it is that this service exists. It brought a smile to all of us at the Hotline to hear this reaffirming message.
