04 Feb Welcome to the first Literacy Links for 2025
We hope you had a relaxing break.
Hotline staff came back to work in January with many of our callers contacting us to see how they could begin or restart their literacy learning. We are looking forward to working with you again in 2025 to make this happen.
This edition of Literacy Links features Chris Tully’s article on literacy & numeracy support in Victorian VET and the powerful impact this is making. Another really positive development for our sector is described in the article about ALaNT, the Adult Literacy and Numeracy Training PD program for teachers, trialled in TAFE NSW last year.
Literacy Links also looks at three important policy developments for the adult literacy sector:
- the new Occupation Standard Classification for Australia (OSCA) code for Adult Literacy/Numeracy teachers
- the 10 year National Foundation Skills Strategy
- the revised ASQA Standards for RTOs.
There is also our usual handy roundup of literacy events, teacher education courses, grants, learning resources, and PD opportunities – including an offer from the Victorian Development Centre (two complimentary places – see article for more details), an Adult Learning Australia webinar and how you can be involved in the ACAL conference in September in Melbourne.
Happy reading!
