The Hotline is thrilled to be able to support a great community initiative in far western NSW. A solicitor at Warra Warra Legal Service saw a big need for culturally-appropriate literacy support for clients, and is working with Broken Hill library to run a volunteer literacy mentoring program. The Hotline has helped with ongoing advice, brochures, and recommendations for learning materials. The program is participant-focused and culturally sensitive, to help address some of the systemic issues that create barriers for First Nations adults. It also includes a digital literacy component, as many participants may not have confidence in this area, or access to devices and internet.
